Who is Eric Bauza?
Bauza grew up in Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto, in a Filipino family. The Toronto Star reported in 2020 that he did the morning announcements at his high school in a Homer Simpson voice. He was also his class valedictorian.
He studied radio, television and film at Centennial College and graduated in 2000. In his third year he interned at Spümcø, the studio behind The Ren & Stimpy Show, and later worked there as a production assistant. His first voice role was on the cartoon The Ripping Friends in 2001. A few years later he took over the voice of Stimpy from Billy West.
He spent the next two decades as one of the busiest voice actors in animation. He moved to Los Angeles and worked on dozens of shows. He also did stand-up comedy at the Laugh Factory.
In 2020, Warner Bros. made him the lead voice of Bugs Bunny in Looney Tunes Cartoons on HBO Max. He already voiced Daffy, Porky, Tweety and Marvin. He told NBC News in 2021 that he was the first person of color to voice Bugs. He played the classic characters in Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021) and, most recently, in Coyote vs. Acme (2026).
He was scheduled to attend a premiere on the day he died, to support a new Daffy Duck short, The Hollywood Reporter said. His family announced his death on Instagram. They said he “passed away suddenly” and that more details would come.
