In trying to better himself Benjamin Franklin, created a list of what he called Virtues. To make them stick he picked one each week and tried to live by it, making a mark in his calendar as to whether he was successful.

When I see a great list like this I feel this weekly incorporation is the way. This week I will attempt to set the energy in each room I enter. I'm kind of excited for next week when I'll say people's names more. At least that's what I'm thinking now. If all goes well, perhaps I'll be able to report on the experience in August. Thanks Polina!

Great article about how to be a great human who's loved by everyone. The best part I like is random acts of kindness; apart from making you visible, you make someone else better off. I heard the story of that wrestler who The Rock surprised and it was a story of persistence, hard work and never giving up. I intend to do this in future, to uplift someone who was on the verge of losing it all.

Hi Polina, I feel grateful to have stumbled upon your work. You have a beautiful style of writing — I love how organized and detailed you are (especially the examples!). It really brings the technique front and center. It’s super cool!

The examples you provided regarding Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Sara Blakely really stuck out to me:

DJ: "Over time and experience, I've realized that the greatest benefit to fame is impacting people's lives in a positive way." This outlook reminds me of ‘when you feel good, you do good’. It’s like that perfect PB&J combo! :)

SB: “They are determined to bend reality to their will in a way that portrays them as the main character in their story. When you're in the presence of someone who romanticizes risk, it feels intoxicating.”

I love seeing women romanticize risk.

I saved this article and will be sure to refer back to it again. Thank you! <3

For sure!! I love how Substack offers the articles in Audible Format as it really allows the information to flow through and sink in. There’s something personable about it :)

Plus when I hear something I like or find thought provoking, I tend to press the 15 second rewind button hahaha. I did that A LOT during your article! keep em’ coming! <3

Cool read! As someone who has worked on all of these things I can say they are ALL much easier said than done, but for sure something we can all improve over time with some effort and consistency!

What a great list with wonderful examples. I've know a few of these things, but learned a few more! Garth Brooks has some of these qualities. When you talk with him, even in a crowd of people, he makes you feel like it's just the two of you. Dolly, though is my favorite!

I love suggestion number one--because everyone in the room DOES matter! It’s just recognizing the truth!

I love this. It's not the article you think it's going to be - it's humble, kind, caring and vulnerable. THAT's the kind of charismatic leader we need in the 21st century!!

“They may speak in clichés, but if they’re charismatic, the clichés sound revolutionary.”

Love this because it's so true hahaha

Very interesting post, it’s strange that some points you have highlighted as positive I thought maybe a setback in myself. And some I have no chance of with my memory- but love the idea of adding notes to contacts, I will start using this in the future.
