I know I'm not the first one to suggest this, but with your experience over the past three years on The Profile and for the last three months doing it full-time plus your podcast time on Lunch Money with Pomp, please put serious consideration into doing a podcast where you interview the subjects of your Profile articles after you've done the Profile and had time to gain feedback from your readers.

But make sure your foundation is solid before you do it, because as strong as your brand is now, it'll go straight to the moon once you plug into video podcasts of your Profiles.

You made the right decision in choosing to strike out on your own. The Force is strong in you.

thank you so much William! Great idea to consider...

Also, if you find yourself looking for someone to edit and transcribe the videos, that's what I've been doing for the last three years.

I've mostly been working in the distributed ledger technology space, but I'm looking to branch out into profiles of companies and individuals where the subjects truly demonstrate a positive impact on the industry they are a part of.

I know you have an available infrastructure in place with Pomp, but nobody ever succeeded by not putting themselves out there. Here's me putting myself out there.

Hey Polina, I just discovered your Substack and am so inspired by it! I'm on a similar path and so excited about it. Thank you for sharing your story, and for this newsletter. All the very best.

Hi Polina, I love this article and your sharing your courage and wisdom! I started my substack comic page last week, with a deep breath. Your words are like rain on a newly planted garden where the seeds are under ground. I especially enjoyed your intention to elevate the content you consume and to pursue a sense of purpose larger than yourself. Thank you! Kathleen

Awwww! Thank you for the good wishes! We had our first rain in the Bay Area last night... after a long, long drought and it felt like well-timed blessing.

Congrats on making this leap and thanks for your wise words. I am currently working for Amazon and building the momentum I need to pivot to entrepreneurship. It is a leap I never thought I would take, and yet it feels so much more certain than putting all my eggs in the corporate job basket.

In 2012, I left my job at The New York Times to start a digital media property that I ran for 4 years before closing it. This resonated with me strongly. It seems like you have a sound strategy. Looking forward to seeing what you do with The Profile going forward.

As the storyteller for the professions, you know I'm a sucker for a professional story. Smart move, Polina. The story behind your new business is exactly where my curiosity took me. And you anticipated, then answered. I just coughed up the money for a subscription. I like the way you think, write, and live out what you've been writing about. I just unsubscribed from more than 100 newsletters to open more space for my brain; therefore, adding you into my Top 10 means you are doing great!

You are rather memorable, yourself. I won't forget this moment because it's at the intersection of something as significant as your past 5 years.

Love this. I quit my well-paid, identity-boosting job last week and am experiencing the roller coaster highs and lows as I prepare to set out on my own. (Nov. 19 is my last day on pay.) I will be taking this advice to heart. And, yes, it feels strange to make such a move amidst a pandemic, but it also feels so very right. Thanks for sharing your experience.
