I created email addresses for both of my kids and send them emails occasionally. It is hard to look back on those experiences with the same emotions, so it's good to capture them while they are fresh. Great article!
My baby-girl is 15 months old now and this suggestion has really motivated me to keep going and write letters to her. I dont write mile-stone wise letter (like every month), but I keep it in the form where I write about incidents that took place on certain days (when I took her to a temple, when she had solid food for the first time, when she met various people of our lives for the first time etc). And I have been inserting photographs as well for the given event.
This is really turning into a marvellous thing, not just for my baby-girl but for me too as it allows me to go back in the past by reading those letters and cherishing those moments.
I come up a family ritual when my baby girl came to our world this year. We call this project "Gemotto" which is - writting a letter to her each year, to capture her growth/ milestone/ sth unforgettable to us that year. This wont be an immediate gift to her but we plan to do it every year and keep those letters until she turns 18. Plus, we try to make it even special - every letter comes a natural gem, wanting to remind she is our gem, and the gem carries some meaning or wishes from us.

Wonderful suggestion. I am a father of 1.5 months old baby-girl and I am starting this practise now.
